What is Modvigil-200?
Modvigil-200 is a tablet whose active ingredient is modafinil, 200 mg per tablet, made by HAB Pharmaceuticals & Research Limited in India. A box holds 100 tablets (10 strips of 10). It is used for excessive sleepiness in adults with narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea or shift work disorder. How to use Modvigil-200
Narcolepsy or sleep apnea
Once a day
Adults: 200 mg (1 tablet) once a day in the morning.
Shift work
Once a day
Adults: 200 mg (1 tablet) about 1 hour before the work shift.
Worth knowing while taking
People with severe liver impairment use half the dose, and a lower dose may be considered for older adults. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use.
Up to 400 mg a day is tolerated, without a clear added benefit.
In sleep apnea this medicine treats the sleepiness, not the blocked airway.

A serious rash, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome (blistering, peeling skin): stop at the first sign of a rash
A severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, lips or tongue (angioedema), anaphylaxis, or a reaction involving several organs
Do not use
- Anyone who has had an allergic reaction to modafinil or armodafinil
- Children (not approved for use in children)
Ask first
- You have had psychosis, depression or mania
- You have heart or blood vessel disease (closer monitoring is needed)
- You use a hormonal contraceptive (it may work less well)
- You take warfarin (INR needs to be checked more often)
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take

- Sleepiness that does not go away: have a doctor re-assess it
- Mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, confusion or unusual mood changes

Medicines and vaccines used with it
- Hormonal contraceptives: may work less well, and may keep working less well for about a month after stopping this medicine
- Cyclosporine, midazolam, triazolam: blood levels may fall
- Phenytoin, diazepam, propranolol, omeprazole, clomipramine: blood levels may rise
- Warfarin: INR needs to be checked more often
- MAO inhibitors: use with caution
